Notes
One of my favourite pieces in my Lamu show. Sometimes one has to surrender to the obvious when giving a piece a title.
In some ways the flatter the surface I am working on the more inclined I am to treat it as a painting; and this is very much a three dimensional painting. Although a lot of my work might be viewed as Utopian - or certainly inspired by heaven of one sort or another, I wanted this piece to evoke power and danger as well as beauty. The form itself is naturally powerful - the fact that it's roughly the size of a human figure increases its presence. I have used a combination of blues with a tiny layer of metallic copper paint as the base colour with small points of other elemental colours inspired by my vision of the universe. |
