Island Jigsaw 2005 81x81x4cm £1500 inclusive of freight
Notes Made from fragments of various canoes jigsawed in to shapes and then each painted individually. My original intention was to create a wall piece and bond the pieces together somehow but in the end I preferred to leave the piece as a horizontal jigsaw puzzle. This piece is special to me - it seems to symbolise my own creative processes in working with this particular medium in this particular place. After I made it I began to see analogies with the tiny streets of Lamu where I spend time, in any event it is very much a handmade piece from a handmade life. Please note that this piece can be displayed as a vertical wall hanging - email the artist if you wish to hang it this way. |
