Notes
Zawadi means present in Kiswahili. This is an interesting shaped fragment from a large fishing canoe. The shape was created by the knot in the wood and the piece has a great micro landscape - textures and surface shapes on it. I have used mother of pearl, blues and greens to evoke the sea and to me this piece is like a present from the deep. This is one of several pieces I have mounted on to wooden board.
