| Much of the work featured here was shown at my exhibition in Shella, Lamu in January 2005. It is all derived from canoe or boat fragments collected from the East African coast. |

| I produced some of these collages when I was in England during 2003 and then added more back home in Kenya in 2004. Most of my work has been 3 dimensional since 2000 but these small pictures have allowed me to explore creating textures on flat surfaces and creating the illusion of other dimensions within the pictures – something I have always strived for. They are made through a process of adding layers – whether it be layers of paint or paper or as in most cases, both. These layers represent other worlds – either in time or location. |
